Open to anyone interested in learning the wonderful art and science of beekeeping

The Delaware Beekeepers Associations mission is to educate members and the public about the importance of honeybees, their role in the pollination of plant species, and the joys and benefits of beekeeping. Founded in 1936, the D.B.A. is dedicated to beekeeper education as well as helping identify and address local beekeepers challenges. By joining the D.B.A. you can keep up to date on the latest methods and techniques to help you enjoy beekeeping as a business or hobby. You will be joining an enthusiastic group of friendly folks who share an interest in beekeeping. One of the ways the Delaware Beekeepers Association serves the beekeeping community is by offering free monthly educational meetings focused on the art and science of successful beekeeping.

Benefits of joining the Delaware Beekeepers Association include:

  • Educational beekeeper meetings are held monthly in Dover, Georgetown, and Newark, where members share ideas, expert speakers, and learn new beekeeping skills. Several of our meetings feature presentations by our most experienced beekeepers, giving you valuable information that will improve your beekeeping skills.
  • Delaware Beekeepers Associations Annual Meeting in March. This all day program features experts giving presentations on many different aspects of beekeeping.
  • Invitation to our annual Open Hive” events, a great educational experience. This program includes lectures on topics such as beekeeping history, cooking with honey, honey extraction, etc. and is a good opportunity for the public to observe a live bee hive.
  • Delaware Beekeepers Association website has links to the latest news and articles on honey bees and beekeeping, a frequently updated events calendar, and exclusive content for members only.
  • The Bee Buddy Program matches Newbee” beekeepers with experienced beekeepers living close by who can provide educational guidance and support during the first year in beekeeping.
